Back from Europe and I’m still having “pinch me” moments. We ate and drank anything and everything we wanted, walked an average of eight miles a day, and touristed the shit out of London and Paris.
I am very proud of myself, for the first time EVER I actually planned my outfits for our trip. I took the time to pull everything out and try it on before packing. I have to say, this was a tremendous help. With the exception of a few mix-and-match pieces, I had outfits planned for our entire trip. This has literally never happened before.
Three things I focused on when packing: walking, weather, and being fashionably comfortable.
I started thinking about what to pack weeks in advance and quickly came to realize I don’t own but a few pairs of flats. Once I picked up a few pairs to add to my collection, I planned my outfits around my footwear. My next factor was weather, even though its been sunny and in the high 80s in Richmond, in London and Paris it was only in the mid-to-low 60s during the day, and as low as 50s at night. Not to mention it can rain at the drop of a hat. Lastly, I was going to Europe, I had waited my whole life for this. Two fashion capitals of the world, I had to make my mark.

We had an incredible trip and can’t wait to go back! It was not what we had imagined, but even better in so many ways. Are you like me and tend to overpack, or do you take the time to plan your outfits on your travels? I’ve promised myself I will continue to get better at it. Furthermore, I had to make sure there was enough room in our bags for more clothes (I’m a shopaholic) and souvenirs! Where’s your next adventure?
